OutdoorGearLab, one of the top outdoor gear review websites, has so graciously presented ENO’s DoubleNest Hammock with the Editor’s Choice Award!
On a six-month exploration of Central America to test out five top-performing, compact, lightweight hammocks, the research team compared the sleep comfort, lounge comfort, setup, accessories and portability of each hammock in various outdoor adventure spots like the beach, the mountains and deep in a tropical forest.
They loved the quick drying aspect of the DoubleNest, as well as its durability, roominess and easy compactness. Determined the most comfortable out of all the hammocks tested, as well as super light and space-saving, the DoubleNest was dubbed truly best for multiple-night camping trips!

Windproof or Waterproof?
A wind jacket is much lighter and you won’t sweat that much in it compared to a waterproof rain jacket. My own preference goes towards carrying a wind jacket AND a rain jacket with me and wear them according to the current weather situation. If it’s raining, I am obviously going to wear a waterproof jacket but if it’s dry but only a cold wind is blowing then I quickly pull on my wind jacket over my fleece to stay warm.

Adidas Gives A Boost To Outdoor Footwear Line
For Fall 2015, Adidas Outdoor debuts their first set of hiking boots with Boost technology. The boots join an expanded line of Boost loaded trail runners. First appearing in Adidas road running shoes, Boost provides more energy return than any other cushioning material in the industry–this means the new hikers and trail runners are ideal for long-distance mountain trails or runs. PCT anyone?
A couple of years ago, Adidas decided to rethink midsole material and completely scrapped the standard EVA foam found in most running and hiking shoes. Instead, the company took a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material and created a new cushioning layer made from 2,500 little plastic pebbles fused together with steam and pressure. The result is a midsole material that is springy and offers better cushioning than traditional foams.
The new Boost hiking boot collection includes two styles for men–the Terrex Ultimate Boost Climaheat ($200, pictured top) and a more urban look, the Boost Urban Hiker ($180). The former is a waterproof hiking shoe loaded with PrimaLoft insulation for warmth and featuring a Continental rubber outsole for super grip in winter conditions.

Salomon ‘Speed Mountaineering’ Footwear — Ultra-running star Kilian Jornet, who set a recen record speed ascent of Denali, inspired the design of this super-light mountaineering shoe/boot. Made for professional mountaineers, the S-Lab X Alp Carbon GTX is a new kind of mountain tool.
Salomon notes it was designed for ridge ascents, glacier crossings and all-out running with a waterproof upper, light build, and a flexible (and patented) carbon-fiber chassis that adds laterally stability. An integrated gaiter keeps out the snow and ice. You can add crampons when the terrain gets steep. $300 when it comes out in 2015.
